Links to 1000 Years of Viking Discovery

In the year 2000, we will be celebrating the arrivial of Leif Ericsson in North America - a full 492 years before Christopher Columbus!!! The Icelandic government, in conjunction with the Canadian and American governments, as well as a host of other organisations, have big plans to mark the millenium of the Vikings' arrival on our shores.
To find out more about the events, please visit the Leifur Eiriksson Millenium Commission of Iceland's web-site.

If you would like to plan a visit to Vinland (later named Newfoundland by John Cabot in 1497), please visit the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism web-site. For special events surrounding the discovery, please visit the government's site.
